Amir was born in a small town in Colorado; to a French kinfolk father, and an Algerian Silent Strider mother under the judge’s moon. His mother was often travelling, so he was mostly raised by his father. He was taught that his mother was blessed with great power and responsibility that required her to travel often. Occasionally friends of his mother’s would stay at their house, and he would hear strange stories from them. This is how he learned about much of the Garou world.
When he was 13 Years old, Amir was witness to a gang beating up another boy. When he attempted to intervene on the boy’s behalf, all hell broke loose. He doesn’t remember what transpired after he got punched the first time, but when he snapped out of it, he was naked, covered in blood, his clothes were torn apart and strewn about him, and 3 of the gang members were lying dead, looking like they had been mauled by a pack of rabid dogs. The boy he had attempted to save was dead, beaten by the fists and feet of the gang members. Amir ran from the scene into the woods, attempting to cover himself up as best as possible. As he lay shivering in a shallow cave that night, he was plagued by what he thought was a vision of the boy he had tried to save. Except, he wasn’t asleep. The dead boy had come to him to thank him for killing the gang that had killed him. Amir hasn’t slept well since this incident.
The next day one of his mother’s friends approached him, carrying a set of clothes, and a large backpack. He reintroduced himself as Atum “Speaks-with-Death.” He had been keeping an eye on Amir as a favor to his parents, and now that Amir had “come of age,” he was here to teach him about life as a Garou. Amir thought he was in shock as the man explained what he was, but it was when the man showed him what he was that he was truly convinced. He asid that he had much to learn, and it would be easier for everyone if Amir could travel with him in his duties as a messenger.
“Speaks-with-Death” became Amir’s mentor, and Amir has travelled with him for three years, learning the in’s and out’s of life on the road. As they journey towards the west coast, “Speaks-with-Death” believes Amir is finally ready to undergo his rite of passage, and truly become one of the Silent Striders.
